Let's talk Anime

Makoto Shinkai is a name that has become increasingly prevalent over the years and for good reason, too. After hitting the anime industry in 2007 with his opus magnum "5 Centimeters Per Second", he quickly established himself as a director with the ability to combine masterful artistic talent with emotional, bittersweet storytelling. I truly think this film does not get the love/attention it rightfully deserves. This is probably because of Shinkai Makoto's' other films like the worldwide phenomenon "Your Name" or "Weathering with You". I am in no means saying that the Garden of Words is better than them because it's not but it is not bad either. It is a fabulous, remarkable and an amazing film.  This film manages to portray what other films try to portray in like 25 episodes or 2 or 3 hours in just a mere 45 minutes because that's how long the film is. This is a sequel to  JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1 - Phantom Blood & if you want to find more about that. I have done a blog separately talking about that only, so do check that blog out before reading this one. The people who haven't seen Part 1, there will be spoilers head so. Link in comments. This story takes place 50 years after Part 1(1888) in 1938, this is where we get introduced to Joseph Joestar and his grandma Erina who is the wife of Jonathon Joestar. Rest everybody is dead, including Joseph's Parents. In the same episode, we come to know of the discovery of a ruin in Mexico which is said to have something terrible. Which is later revealed to be Stone Masks and the pillar men (the main antagonist of the show) who created the stone mask 2000 years ago to conquer the sun, as they cannot go in the sun, or else they will be too overpowered in the start only. "It is sad not to love, but it is much sadder not to be able to love." The words uttered by Miguel de Unamuno become unusually symbolic when we think of them in the context of Hotarubi no Mori e. The romance genre has grown stiff over the centuries - and some may even imply that any originality in that particular type of works has depleted, that nothing fresh and original can be created when basically everything is a cliché these days. Well then, I'm truly glad I can say that whoever sports that belief is in the wrong. The evidence: Hotarubi no Mori e. How  much emotion and feelings can be put into a small vessel? As Shakespeare and his cycle of sonnets taught us - you don't need much space (or time) to deliver a powerful blast of vivid emotions. The show starts with a question and I quote " Are all human equal " which plays a key role throughout the season. Soon another quote follows " God does not create someone more superior or inferior than others" followed by the phrase "Humans are born equal but a gap is created later due to the level of diligence". Give it some thought :) The story starts with the bus scene where we are introduced with the main characters, ideals of equality, and what it really means which is put to the test several times in the show. We get to know that they all are going to a school, a very fancy one at that. On the surface, Koudo Ikusei Senior High School( Name of the School ) is a utopia. The students enjoy an unparalleled amount of freedom, and it is very ranked highly in Japan. However, the reality is less than ideal.  There are different parts to JoJo and I think there are 8 parts in the manga as of now and only 5 in the anime. Jojo gots its anime adaptation quite a while after its manga so it is quite reasonable that the anime is 3 parts behind. Nevertheless, today we are going to talk about Part 1 which is pretty small, only about 9 episodes but is an indispensable part of the Jojo franchise. In the initial moment of the 1st episode, we are introduced to George Joestar, an extremely wealthy man during the gold rush era of Europe, 1868 to be exact, where we see an upturned carriage that has fallen down the valley, and George Joestar is on the brink of death. Then we are introduced to a looter namely Dario Brando who seeing this opportunity comes to steal his possessions. To his surprise, George Joestar wakes up and thinks that he helped him stay alive and is oblivious to the fact that he was looting him. The title of “I want to eat your pancreas” may have the wrong effect and the title may mislead but this I am sure you will change your mind about it and realize the beautiful meaning it has once you read this blog. We would normally think in a title like this would be something gory or zombie-related but it could not be farther from the truth but it is, in fact, it is a heartwarming and beautiful film. The movie starts with Sakuras (the female protagonist) funeral (not a spoiler) where we see all her friends and family crying. I know, a pretty unexpected start huh. that is where we see the boy being cooped up in his house surrounded by books.   The female protagonist of the movie suffers from an incurable disease in her pancreas and will die for sure in due time (not a spoiler).
